9/11 Never Forget

On Wednesday, before work, I headed over to to the Freedom Tower & the 9/11 Memorial. I had never been there before and I was immediately struck the moment the tower and the sound of the waterfalls came into view.

The purpose of my morning trip was to take some photos (#socialmedialife) for my brand's Instagram account.

I wasn't too keen on going before work and having my morning commute disrupted but once I was there, I was very glad I had made the trip.

It was incredibly emotional and slightly eerie. It was calm, peaceful, and serene. Between seeing the names engraved on the marble, hearing the waterfalls, and being in the place that so many people lost their lives, I was very overwhelmed.

When the memorial came into view, I felt the bubbling of tears creep up into my eyes and choked them back.

It's a beautiful spot, separated from the hustle & bustle of Manhattan. It almost feels like you've entered another world the moment you walk passed the map of the memorial.

There was hardly anyone around and I snapped my photos in peace.

It was a very warming, heart felt morning and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'll never forget where I was and what happened on this day 14 years ago .. from seeing & hearing sirens rush on the Belt Parkway, watching from my 4th grade classroom, to having my mom pick me up from school, to watching the towers fall on television as me and my friends watched in awe while our moms chain smoked cigrattes, worried about our fathers' who worked in Manhattan.

I'll never forget seeing my dad come home that night, covered in sweat and soot, his tie hanging off his shirt, and throw himself on the grass in front of my house and cry.

Never forget what happened on September 11th.
